PATHWAY LINK SQUAD
Following on from Water Dragons the Pathway Link Squad is the first step in the Pathway full time Squad. Our Pathway Link squad follows the Learning to Train and Training to Train areas of the Athlete Development Support Pathway (ADSP).
Your swimmers will still be building on the Advanced Swimming Skills Programme (Level 4) using this for our squad criteria, whilst learning to cope with swimming 3 sessions per week.
At Haverfordwest Seals Swimming Club we look at the swimmer as a whole – it is not just about swimmer’s times/PBs, age or speed in training. We look for technique (as per the Framework), stamina (with continued technique), coachability and a willingness to learn & improve.
Our coaches are all voluntary and are working hard to ensure your child develops into the best swimmer they want to be. Please help to support them with this and trust the process laid down by Swim Wales.
If you have any questions about the framework or have any questions about your swimmer please contact [email protected]
How can I help as a Parent/carer?
Please help the coaches and your swimmer by:
- ensuring they are on time for training (obviously sometimes this is unavoidable)
- ensuring your swimmer has the appropriate kit at every session
- ensuring they are being fuelled properly with adequate rest
- Supporting the coaches and your swimmer when trying new events.
- Getting Involved! We always need parents to help the general running of the club. Not comfortable coming on poolside? That’s absolutely fine, our social/fundraising area is in regular need of more help.
What is expected of your swimmer?
In Pathway Link the emphasis/focus is still on fun and embedding those important techniques/Core swim skills, combined with a focused attitude and a drive to improve their swimming.
We expect our swimmers to come ready to train, that means;
- Having the right equipment,
- A readiness to learn,
- Building a focused attitude towards training
Our Pathway Link swimmers will enter a variety of meets throughout the year including Club Championships, County Championships, etc as guided by coaches. They will be encouraged to do events on all four strokes and try new distances.
This can vary from child to child as we follow the Athlete Development Support Pathway (ADSP) as part of the Swim Wales Framework.
Progression
Pathway Squad – Mondays 6.30pm-8pm, Wednesdays 6.30pm-8.30pm and Fridays 6pm-7.45pm
